French Lessons via Zoom® with Le Poiron Bonjour

In addition to our courses we are pleased to offer online individual and group lessons with our native tutors Francoise and Jake. An opportunity to learn or improve your French with a real person in real time but without the travel.

Individual /One to one lesson

Your lessons will be conducted using 'Zoom' , a video call service via your computer. It is a free service and should only take you a few minutes to sign up.

During your first lesson your level will be assessed and you will spend time getting to know your tutor. Thereafter, prior to each lesson, your tutor will send the topic you will be covering that session.

Group lessons

Over a period of six weeks we will be running four different group courses of six lessons each via Zoom video meetings. Each course will run twice a week giving you the convenience of choosing morning OR evening lessons. All courses are suitable for beginner + and intermediate level students.

Each course is available for just £54.00 per single and £90.00 per couple.

Course 1 - La Phrase / Sentence Construction - Beginner+ Level
Learn where to place your words in a sentence in order to express yourself correctly.
Eg: a black cab = a cab black un taxi noir
Requirements: A reasonable knowledge of French Vocabulary.
Course 1a)
Monday at 9.30 am (UK time) from 21st September to 26th October 2020
Lesson 1:
The main grammar terms and important vocabulary.
Lesson 2:
The basic organisation of a sentence subject, verb and complement.
Lesson 3:
Negation: How to say - I don't like coffee, I no longer like coffee, I can't see anybody....
Lesson 4:
More on negation.
Lesson 5 & 6:
How to ask a question.
Course 1 - La Phrase - Intermediate Level
A follow up to the beginner's course how to build a coherent sentence.
How would you say these sentence:
I like tea as much as I like coffee but I don't like coke so much.
Have you lived here long? Please sit down.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of sentence structure. Familiarity with the masculine and feminine. To be able to recognise subject and verb.

Introducing the verb pouvoir « can/could/to be able to... »
Lesson 6:
Practice and quiz.
Course 3 - Phonetics and Pronunciation - Complete beginner
Why don't French people understand me ? You put your words together and think its great but you are not understood. An insight into french pronounciation. From the pronounciation of « une cave » to « une quincaillerie... »
Requirements: This course is suitable for absolute beginners, just starting French.

The basics of phonetics & pronunciation.

Consonants and vowel association.
Lesson 3:
Nasal sounds including the letters 'n' and 'm'.
Lesson 4:
Reading and dictation to revise lessons 1- 3.
Lesson 5:
être / avoir = to be / to have
Lesson 6:
Masculine and feminine basics
Course 4 - Pronunciation and Comprehension - Beg+/Intermediate Level
In this class we will practise, practise and practise again... Listening,understanding and pronunciation through different exercises, texts, song studies and live conversations.
Requirements: être/avoir + knowledge of the passé composé - 3 verbe groups and present tense.

Course 5 - Verbs - Intermediate level
Oh "mon dieu" those French verbs!!! Again!!!
Requirements: Knowledge of the 3 verb groups and their conjugation in the present tense.

Falloir and its many faces, conjugation and uses...
Lesson 3:
When and how do we use the subjunctive in french. How to conjugate verbs from the three different groups and the irregulars.
Lesson 4:
Verbs and expressions using the subjonctif. Avant que et après que ?
Lesson 5:
La conjonction « que »+ indicatif ou subjonctif ? Can we avoid using the subjunctive in French ? (the answer is no !)
Lesson 6:
Practice and quiz.
Course 7 - Grammar - Beginner +/Intermediate
Learn where to place your words so that they make sense in order to express yourself correctly. And...lets emphasise on the Faaaaabulous gender, “the masculine and the feminine.
Requirements: A good knowledge of vocabulary of Verbs.
